Episkopi
General
The special design of the church of the Episkopi (Diocese) is the trademark of Sikinos, evidence of the passing of time on the island. It is a monument of exceptional archaeological, historical and architectural value in all of Greece.
Architecture
The building was originally a Roman mausoleum (tomb),of the 3rd century AD. In the 17th century the building was converted into a Christian church, with the addition of the sanctuary (the niche) on the eastern side and a dome at its center. Next is the chapel of St. Anna. In the uninhabited meadow area, which extends all around the chapels are the cells of the monastery, remains of walls and buildings, and fragments of statues. The Episkopi can be reached by taking the path that branches off from the asphalted road.
