Collection of Byzantine Antiquities

Byzantine churches
Six Byzantine churches decorated with frescoes of the 13 and 14 century, show the importance of Sikinos, during the Latin period and the numerous churches built around the castle, the Chora and the Chorio, carved wooden iconoclasts and other images show another important period of the island from the 17th to the 19th century.

Collection of Byzantine Antiquities
These aspects of the history of the monuments of Sikinos are highlighted in the exhibition which takes place at the palace of the Community of Sikinos in the castle of the Chora. The 2nd Byzantine archeology supervision took care of the exhibition which was set in the above mentioned two-floor medieval fortified palace of Sikinos, highlighting also the architecture.
