Sifnos is the birth place of many a great chef perhaps the most famous of them all is Nicholas Tselementes and also the chef Marko,

- manoura (fresh semi-soft cheese)
- mizithra (cottage cheese)
- green beans from the vineyard with garlic sauce
- chick-peas roasted in the traditional way (cooked in sealed ceramic pots in wood-fired oven)
- caper salad (capers grow wild all over the island in the crevices of rocks)
- roast lamb "mastelo" (the meat is roasted in the oven over branches from the vine with local red wine and dill - mastelo is the name given to the ceramic cooking pot)
