Artemonas

Artemonas
Artemonas is the number one walk in Sifnos. Follow the narrow cobbled stoned alley to the windmills. From the row of old windmills only two remain today in good condition. The houses that we now pass were the homes of the wealthier Sifnians and are in the neoclassical style shaded by pine trees, among gardens and flower beds in bloom.

Churches
Beautiful churches with their snow white forms find their natural settlement among the houses and trees. Our Lady of Kogchis, of Bali and of Ammou. In the Virgin of Ammou there is a rare icon in which the Virgin Mary is depicted without the baby Jesus. Nearby is the house of the poet Ioannis Grypari. Meanwhile, it is impossible not to smell the sweet smells coming from the tempting bakery where the famous almond paste sweets of Sifnos are prepared.

Artemonas (II)
Continue your walk up and down steps to Apollonia via Ano Petali. The view is panoramic from the highest points of the route. The viewer can see the whole island, the Castle, the main settlements and also Kamares, the port, and the inner part of the Gulf of the same name.
