Abandoned mines
Mega Leivadi is a mining museum in the open, with all the infrastructures related to the extraction of iron ore, having suffered the great strike of 1916 and ceasing operation in 1963. Miners trolleys, the tracks, the entrance to the mine, the old offices in the neoclassical building, all attempt to resist time and the salt of the sea, the years have long past when ships anchored at the port of Arachos all creating an evocative state of neglect, a backdrop of evocative power, intimately tied to the naked landscape of Serifos.
Visits can be made to the exhibition of rare minerals and rocks of Serifos housed in the building at Mega Leivadi.
Also of interest are the old mines at Koutala
