Ports and Marinas
Amorgos has two ports, Aigiali and Katapola.
The two harbours are connected throughout the whole year with the port of Piraeus, as well as with other islands of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese. Amorgos is also connected with Naxos and the Small Cyclades by ferry.  The harbour provides good shelter from the meltemi (northern summer winds) boats can dock side-to to the quay or anchor off-shore but within the harbour of Katapola.
Helipad
The helicopter landing pad of Amorgos is licensed by the Greek Ministry of Transport and is fully quipped.
Capital
The capital of the island is Chora, located at the centre of the island (5 km from Katapola, 15 km from Aigiali) at a safe distance from the sea offering protection from the pirates during the medieval period. Here, narrow cobbled streets, small whitewashed houses with blue windows, double storied mansions and dozens of churches, along with the windmills on the top of the hill, create an appealing scene of simple beauty for the visitor.
Accomodation
There are properties of all types and categories on the island beginning with the simplist rented room and reaching at AIGIALIS possibilities for SPA facilities and wedding receptions.  Amorgos has been successful in maintaining its local colour and together with the Little Cycladic Islands remains a much loved destination for those who wish to meet with the Aegean in her most traditional form.  Recently renovated are the traditional island paths strengthening the demand for walking holidays.  Development takes place at a slow but steady pace always keeping in mind sustainable choices.
Local Transportation
Buses, taxies, rented cars and motor bikes, as well as boats that execute regular itineraries to distant beaches, are the most commonmeans of transport on the island.
In general
The trademarks of which Amorgos is best known must be the beach of Agia Anna where the film “The Big Blue” was filmed and the amazing cliff hanging monastery of Chozoviotissa.  The south part of the island is called Kato Meria or Arkesini and is less touristic. Amorgos is located literally in the middle of the deep blue sea. Positioned southeast of Naxos and is the most eastern island of the Cyclades. The island has an elongated shape and a surface area of 121 kilometres. The documentary film "Parvas" in 2009 brought Amorgos still closer to the Greek audience revealing a world beyond the Greek summer struggling to succeed in the often somewhat constricted Amorgiano society in winter.
